Bellflower, Los Angeles County
Bellflower is named for the bellefleur apple, which grew in local orchards when the town was platted in the early 1900s. Dutch and Portuguese dairy farmers settled the area and made it a center of milk production until suburban growth arrived after World War II. The restored Pacific Electric depot on Bellflower Boulevard recalls the red trolley cars that once stopped there.
